L1-B to process Green Card

Hi,

I have been working in US under L1-B visa as a US employee (permanent job) for an over year and I am planning to get married next year. My company has agreed to offer me a green card too.

I know that there are 4 stages involved in processing the green card:

1) Labor certification.
2) I-140.
3) I-485
4) Green Card

Following are my queries:

1) How long will it take to process each stage? The reason I am asking this is that I came to know that it takes more than 3 years to get a green card. Is this true?

2) If I need to include my wife, at what stage should I need to enroll her?

3) After applying for the green card, can I move to a different employer or company under L1 or should I need to apply for H1B to accomplish this even being in US?

Please advise.

Thanks

You need to provide which country you were born and your work experience to estimate processing time.

Whenever application asks your wife's name, write it down. Technically, she won't be
deeply involved in GC process until I-485.

Being able to use L1 to move other employer, you have to meet L1 criteria with the new company. Once 180days has passed after I-485 filing, you are pretty much free to move AS LONG AS NEW JOB IS SAME OR SIMILAR TO THE ONE STATED IN I-140.
Til then, you have to restart GC process from scratch everytime you change the company.
