L1-A Visa

I am working for a major technology company as Manager in the USA. As my H1-B 6 years have run out, I am planning to step out of the country for a year. I would continue to work for the same company in China as a Manager and plan to return to USA as a manager. My time lines are to leave USA in May 05 and plan to return June 06.

1) Do you see any flaw in the above approach?
2) What are the requrements for L1-A visa?
3) Any experiences and things to plan before I leave the country?

1. Nothing wrong with your approach. China is probably one of the most exciting places to work at the moment
2. L1a requires a managerial level position - it sounds like you fit that profile
3. Why don't you discuss about a greencard now already before you leave. You seem to have a pretty stable job ...
