I called KCC and they confirmed that the CN's for Asia (2009) had shifted upwards this year as compared to 2008. But this was only for Asia, not for other regions and know this, the KCC lady told me : The numbers are separate for all regions, they are not mixed up like some of us had speculated before.

Implicatons anyone?????

Yeah right! I highly doubt KCC would discuss this kind of operational detail with the public. Who did ya talk to, Condoleezza?

Why would they shift the numbers for Asia only?

The numbers don't appear to be mixed, indeed: nobody reported a CN larger than 70,000. The largest CNs are in Africa, but they are lower than 70k.

hallo darkhorse,

it is better to talk to Mr. President" George W. Bush " so that you can confirme your's Theory. in Germany we said hallo hallo

I know i'ts difficult for you guys to believe me, but just in case.
Call 1-606-526-7500 and then press 1, ask them whether the CNs for Asia have shifted upwards and then post a reply here.

I mean you guys should atleast do some research before spewing your cynisism here.
Go check out the facts first : Call them for once and then talk.

What about my case number 2009AS00023xxxx?

What's the guesstimate of when my interview would be? My case number is 2009AS00023xxx? Do i have a good chance? or very bad chance?

Thanks :)

I don't know but you seem to be confused. It's the DOS monthly Visa Bulletin I'm talking about. I also have a very high CN for Asia, PM with your email address and then we can talk about it.

It depends

Yes, I do agree that CN for Asia might have gone up for DV-2009. My friend's CN for DV-2009 Asia is 31XXX.

To know more about your chances, you should wait for the September 2008 bulletin, and hopefully they will post the numbers of applicants for each country that were notified for DV-2009.

Here are some info based on previous visa bulletins.
DV-2008: 14,142 Asia applicant ("CURRENT" in August 2008, 13,400 in July 2008)
DV-2007: 11,929 Asia applicant ("CURRENT" in August 2007, 7,750 in July 2007)
DV-2006: 11,473 Asia applicant ("CURRENT" in September 2006, 7,700 in August 2006)
DV-2005: 13,804 Asia applicant (11,400 in September 2005, 2,404 never got a chance at all to apply)
DV-2004: 19,628 Asia applicant (16,300 in September 2004, 3,328 never got a chance at all to apply)
DV-2003: unknown total of Asia applicant (21,400 in September 2003)
DV-2002: unknown total of Asia applicant ("CURRENT" in September 2002, 16,700 in August 2002)

Note:
The total number of applicants are usually out in either August / September prior to the start of the DV fiscal year. For example, for DV-2008, I added up all the numbers for each country (in Asia) on the September 2007 visa bulletin under the "DV-2008 results" section.

I was under the impression that the rate the numbers move forward depends on the total numbers of applicants from that region on that given year (i.e. where you are in the queue).

This is purely speculative. I am new to this DV thing. Let me know if I made a wrong interpretation from the visa bulletin.

Cheers,
Will

Thanks for clarifying it. Didn't realize that the data was out that early.

Hmm, it doesn't make sense then. Why there are people with case numbers in the range of 20k-30k for Asia, when there are only 13,998 people selected and notified? Could it be that the case numbers are not necessarily assigned sequentially? 31XXX CN doesn't necessarily mean that there are ~31k other applicant in front of you?
