K1visa and engagement question

Question, I proposed to my fiance abroad along with her parents via webcam. They all met me in person before. So now that I proposed to her and her parents agree, can I start the process filing for her finance k1 visa now here in the US? OR I have to wait until I am getting there and engage with her according to the custom and traditions over there first, then file for the K1 visa petition for her to get here?

The tradition is there is that the engagement is such a huge deal, almost like a wedding. It's not like here in the US, you proposed, she gets the ring, end of engagement. Thoughts?

You're fine.
An engagement is when you both have plans to marry one another- and that is what you both plan.
Along with the K1 petition you will both include a letter of intent to marry one another within 90days of entering the US.
Some people dont even have an engagement ring. I 'did' have an engagement ring, but it was being re-sized back in the US right at the time of my K1 interview- I had the interview completely ringless and didnt get asked about it so you'll be fine.

Are you saying I can start the K1 petition for her now even though I have not gone back to do the engagement activity in her country?

Another question is do I really need to do that engagement activity in her country? It's huge deal over there.

Yes.

It all depends on the consulate and 'just how big of a deal it is' to the culture of that country (for example, Vietnam). I'm not hugely well versed on the different consulates around the world since Im from England and so have not researched into this too much. It may be useful if you could post where your fiance is from

Here's a short discussion on different people's opinions on having the engagement ceremony's pictures at the K1 interview.
