K-1 vs Work Visa (or whichever is faster)

I am engaged with a US citizen and plan to file for a K-1
visa. But after I found out that this K-1 process can take
6 months or longer I am wondering if I can apply for work
visa, which is processed faster.

Our primary goal is not to get married as soon as possible
but to be able to live together and for me to have a job.
My fiancee has a fully prepared K-1 petition lying around
and I have my resume ready to send out. So what is the
best way to go from here?

Or, in other words, will a pending K-1 petition mess up my
ability to get a work visa once I find a company which would
sponsor me?

Thanks for your help,
Michael

Its better to go with K-1 since you can apply for adjustment of status than a work visa where the sponsor will have to bear responsibility of applying for adjustment of status...

I second that advice. K-1 visas are relatively easy and quicker to acquire. You just need to ensure that you marry the US citizen within 90 days of entering the US.
