K-1 or I-130?

Currently I am going through somewhat of a difficult time financially. I make about 72,000 a year, and will probably be losing my house. I divorced three years ago, and owe about 9k in back taxes as well. I may be able to split that up between ex and I, but not sure (we were audited).

My question is, am i going to have difficulty getting my fiance a K-1 visa? She lives in Latvia. If so, would it be easier to go the I-130 route and do the I-864? We are just wanting to be together as quick as possible.

Also, please refrain from the "well if you are not financially secure you don't need to be getting married" comments. My fiance is well aware of my situation and what we will have to do to start our life together. We are marrying for love, not money.

Thank you for your responses, God bless.

K1 pending for over 19 months, can u share experience, if any

Hi Gents,
applied for K1/fiance visa in May 2007,

FBI background check approved in March 2008,

Scheduled interview in US Embassy in
Abu Dhabi/UAE August 2008

Case is pending due to some admin processing
work, 4 months after interview, still waiting for visa?
Please share your experinece or if you know any one at the same boat?
Can i place a law suit for this kind of case?
I would really appriciated if anyone could reply to this posting.

K1 is for a fiance.
I-130 is for a spouse.

So you need to decide what your relationship situation is going to be when you decide to file (engaged or married).

The K1 is the quickest visa to obtain, though the I-130 is overall the better visa as theres less cost and paperwork once your partner arrives in the US.

i am the sponsor, my name was cleared as well as my fiance with the FBI in march of 2008. I think there is a 4 to 6 months post-interview admin proccessing time for some cases in which we are waiting for, i was just wondering if any one else goes through the same experience.
