Just started my process

Hi just joined this forum so hi everyone and hopefully someone can help or give me advice . I have been married for 4 years to my wife who is a US citizen and we have just got round to applying for my Green Card after me travelling back and forwards 10 times , we were undecided whether to live in the US or England hence the delay in applying . We mailed the I-485 , I-130 , I-693 , G-325A and I-864 plus supporting paperwork , photos checks etc to Chicago , everything we were told to by the Immigration office in Charleston SC . What we need to know is how long it will take on average before I am given a work visa or SSN , I need to start working as we are living with the In laws and want to find our own place but can't do it on my wifes wage alone . I don't mind waiting for my Green card but need to start looking for work . Thanks in advance for any answers to this

What about the I-765? You'll need that to work before the green card is approved. If you didn't submit it with the I-485, you'll have to wait for the I-485 receipt notice, then include a copy of the I-485 receipt notice with the I-765 application. There is no fee when it's tied to an I-485. The I-765 takes about 2-3 months to be approved.

And you'll also need I-131 (Advance Parole) if you want to travel abroad and reenter the US during the process.

Ooops forgot to put the I-765 on the list , it was sent with the rest of the paperwork but I didn't send the I-131 as I don't think I'll be travelling home for a while , should I have ?
Thanks
