Hi every body,

I just received my interview letter. My inerview date is Jun. 29th. I should be happy, but I can't make it! Since both me and my husband just bought our flight ticket to visit my home country from Jun. 25th. :(
What should we do in this case? If I call to reschedule a interview date will they put my files at the very end, and I have to wait a very long time? Is that better idea is I reschedule my trip? My Gradfather is very ill, I really want to go back to see him...

Thank you in advance for your advice or suggestions.

Call the 1-800 number and reschedule your appointment. Follow the automatically recorded options. I don't think it should be a problem, but you might have to wait a couple of months before another interview.
Good luck!

It is your call. I mean you can reschedule it, but there is no guarantee that will be as soon as you want later on. Can be in the next 2-3 months.

For timing: The difference between your interview and travel would be only 4 days. For me in particular is not a big difference and would not make any difference to pull back for 4 days the trip to go to the interview than be guessing when the next interview would be.

For family priority: But is your family and you are the one who must make that decision and see how sick is your grandfather and if 4 days is crucial to see him.

Good luck,

I agree with Cherr, I would rather wait 4 days and finish the interview and get it over with rather than wait in a pile for the next available interview date.

Since June 25th and 29th are still more than a month from now, if your grandfather's health improves or declines you're likely to know what the situation is. You can also move the visit earlier, too if that is possible and be back on the 28th?

Thanks. I see the point. But the problem is it is now very hard to change the flight ticket. I don't really need the green card that badly. If I only have to wait for 2-3 more months, it is not a big deal. But I am worrying about things could get more complicated than just 2-3 more months of waiting time. :(

I would reschedule the flight, if I were you.

God knows what will happen if you reschedule the interview. If shxt happened, you would have spent more effort to get it fixed. Compare to that, rescheduling flight is piece of cake.

I would reschedule the flight too. Interview is an important step, plus knowing how the BCIS works... it is better do things when they say or you may get stuck.

Changing your flight tickets can be costly but attending your interview on time is priceless ;)

I agree...
But I just tried to change my flight date, I was told it is not possible. All tickets are booked up for the following week or even longer. So either go home as I scheduled or I can't go home at all this summer. I think I chose to go as I planed. I haven't been home for 5 years. :( Rearlly can not wait any longer.

Does anybody had the experience of rescheduling interview date?

I don't think you need our help--------since you said to you " it's not a big deal"
I hope you won't come back asking for help again if you get stuck with your rescheduling.

Sorry if I sound rude, but the truth is that I don't see the different in a 4days & getting your interview done with. What if something happened to you grandfather tomorrow  If you have stayed here for 5yrs I do not see the difference in delaying you travelling for a few days even if you have to loss the money you pay for the ticket,

Good luck

Read the previous post: there are no seats on a flight a few days later. I would say just reschedule the interview. I doubt it will have any negative impact on your case, other than a few months delay. I think people here are too paranoid.

Hi, I am the husband. We would reschedule the flight if we could. Due to our work/school scedules, we have a window of opportunity for when we can visit China and there are no more available flights available to our travel agent. Even so, it would cost us $700 to change our current tickets. Essentially, to make our interview means over $2000 down the drain. I called USCIS and said we can handle a delay but is there a change the process could be halted and she said no, as long as we submit the request with our reason.

It would be good to hear from others that have had to reschedule their interviews though.
