Just had INFOPASS at Newark NJ DO

Had to wait in line for 10 minutes to check in, then was sent to sit down.
We were called in 2 minutes  - anyway, we got to the window and
explained that we need the AP, since we have to bring the kids
back to Canada on August 24ish.. so they are back in time to start school
on the 28th.

Much to our surprize, the officer said, well - it was approved the same day
as the EAD CARD but it don't show them mailin it out to us. Then she
asked, did you submit an address change? It says here there was an address
change, but the new address shows the same as the old... that's odd.

Long and short of it, she called the NBC and had to leave a message.
We waited just over an hour, but nothing. The officer took our home
and cell number and will call us to give us the scoop.

If they never sent it out and it was just an oversite, we can supposedly
go get one in Newark DO, otherwise we are SOL until they send it, or until
we go to the GC interview on Sept 19.

What a crock of shit.

PS for those who asked, no they would not disclose if we had finished
the NAME CHECK Process or not.

Well I'll be a SOB :)

THe office just called and said they found our AP at the NBC.
They lost our pics that were attached, but will scan one from
the 765 or 485 and attach it, and send it out to us tomorrow.

Finally, a visit that wasn't a waste of time.

SomeIt - that doesn't make any sense. The number of oversights and errors I've read recently on some of these threads is unbelievable. For one, they updated your I-131 and I-765 the day before they sent you the approval email on the EAD. And it shows up as Approved on "their" system? So why must you go through a 'hunt and search' and more waiting? And another trip to the D.O.? I don't get it. Sorry this has happened to you. Hopefully you'll get a good news phone call or email later today...

Oops.. you posted again while I was typing.. good news then, but still scary.

For sure, what's most scary is that if we didn't take the INFOPASS, we would have never known - since the AP don't show approved in the online status.

Those idiots really get my dander up.

At least infopass is pretty efficient and the officers are nice....
But what about if somebody lives a few hours away from the closest DO?

We're lucky sar, I'm 20 minutes from Newark, your IN MANHATTAN lol.
The rest are SOL I suppose. I just read about someone last week driving
3 hours to their DO.

OMG.

I'm a 10-minute walk from Federal Plaza... :D
But after I read about massive road trips to DOs, I swear I won't complain if the interview is in Garden City.... :o

The last guy I talked to at the NSC actually argued with me about the distance from my house to my District Office (400 miles). I told him I already had it printed out on MapQuest and it was right in front of me. The funny thing is that Georgia's District Office in Atlanta is half the distance closer to me than my own D.O.

You're lucky that you got such a responsible officer at Newark. When I made my Infopass, the one I got literally drove me away. She was yelling as if I couldn't hear or I wasn't capable of understanding her language
And on top of it, she was anything but helpful, after my 1 1/2 hour drive there.

Yeah, my DO is 200 miles away, so about 3 hours drive if I break the PA speed limit, more likely 3 1/2 hours. I'm really hoping things go smoothly and I don't have to do Infopass.
