Just got back from COP last week & at POE(Dallas) not even a single question asked. Just welcome home & stamped my passport.

You are pretty lucky. I was questioned last week and I only visited a neighboring country.

Which port of entry? And what did they ask?

Washington DC (Dulles)

Questions were like did you go to your country of origin and what on earth were you doing in the country next door. The inspector wanted to see hotel receipts etc. He was satisfied after I just showed him the letter of invitation for a professional conference I attended.

Note that for my country of origin there is no plausible claim of change of country conditions.

I also had a very bad experience in Washington Dulles back in 2005 when I was on my way back from Mexico. IOs are real bitches over there. Since then I prefer to avoid entry through this airport.

Did anybody ever enter thru Seattle?
I'm planning to go back to my COP next year using GC and NP that I renewed after receiving my GC.
Thx.

I did not have any problems while coming through Dulles but the IO were true @ssholes.

I was supposed to have my I-94 attached to my RTD and the idiot refused.

I stayed in secondary nspection for less than 5 min but I did not expect to be there to begin with. I had just come back from Europe and did not care about living here anymore. Worst come worst, I could find refuge somewhere else

I have used this airport many times and never had problems. I believe there is no good or bad PoE, it all depends on various circumstances (IO's current mood, CoP etc...)

Hi Atique. Thanks for your response. I have another question.
Have the political conditions in your COP changed since you left the country?

Yes, it's completely changed now. Since my asylum application & now it's almost 16 yrs.

Keep in mind that all the travel done while a PR will resurface when one applies for citizenship. So even if you didn't get questioned for going to your COP upon your return doesn't mean you won't get questioned during your citizenship interview. Everything is looked at during the interview - for example, how permanent residence was obtained, good moral character, loyalty to the USA, and continuous/physical residence (including all trips taken abroad).

There was an incident on here about an individual who was denied citizenship because he visited his COP twice every year until he applied for his citizenship ( i believe it was a total of 8 trips). And the reason for the denial was 'loyalty'.

I used Dallas as POE & there were many passengers but 5/6 IO's so no way they had time to check for each individuals GC category to find out why as an asylum based GC person visited COP. I guess that's quite normal picture in any international airports in USA.
Also we have to understand IO's are not only there to stop asylum based GC people to visit COP but they got more important things to take care so please don't get frantic for no reasons.
We all have to understand one thing very clearly that every cases are different. I applied my asylum 16 yrs ago & after all these years things got changed asusually.

Once again Lolali every case is different. Going COP twice a year for four years seems to be questioned for sure.

Atique,

I should do the same thing while I still have time, but I didn't do it and now it is too late.
doctor gave up on my mom already. shoot... why life can be so complicated.
I'm going to renew my NP. I don't care if I can just see her just for a day.
thank you so much for the info

Lolali, 'loyalty', when it comes to citizenship, has nothing to do with trips abroad. It has more to do with not registering for selective service for males or not paying taxes. Traveling twice a year for a period of two weeks each time, whether it is to COP or the Moon, does not fall under any category for citizenship denial.

I don't want to beat this topic to death. However, perhaps you should go read the specific example I reference. Based on the IOs questions there is no doubt the application was denied due to visits to the COP. By the way, not paying taxes is a "continuous residence" criteria and has nothing to do with loyalty.

As I have said before, to each his own. We are all adults on here and know exactly what we are doing. My only advice is to have documentation/material support that justifies the trip back to the COP.
