Hello everyone,

I just put myself into very complicated situation and need your advice.
As some of you know that I recently obtained TN status to work for company A.

I also got an offer from company B this week (initially I wanted to get into this company, but they didn't get in touch with me until this week).
Company B offers higher wage ($5000 difference annually), better benefit and less commute (15 minutes each way).

Q1: I am assuming I can apply for new TN at the border, but would they question me about recently obtained TN and most importantly if any reason they reject it....will they cancel my existing TN?

Q2: Can I mail in the new application instead of going to the border? If so, I know it is taking very long time to process, can I work for company B while application is in process? I know I should know this already, but .....

Q3: I have received my SSN and I can just simply work with same number once the new TN is obtained? Once again, dumb question, but I need to make sure coz on the SSN states that "Valid to work only with DHS authorization"

Q4: You might be wondering what I will do with company A. I don't know....Please help....there will questioning of morality, ethics, and where my manners are etc ....Just to avoid that I feel I should Ignore Company B's offer ....then on the other hand I really want to work for company B...BTW, there is no contract with company A. All I signed was the offer and W8 form.

Please advice,

Jill

1. No question will beasked. They simply don't care how many TNs you get.
2. You need TN in hand to work for new sponsor. It will take 3 months or $1000 extra to get it next week.
3. SSN is forever. Your TN -- valid TN for that sponsor -- is your work authorization.
4. Screw 'em

Nelsona,

Thanks for the straight forward answers.

I am typing up the TN letter....Company A and Company B are very similar in operations and the job I got is exactly same for both. Now if the TN letter is very similar to the old one would the officer at the border question it?

I don't remember if they kept the copy of that letter when I applied for the first one. Will they have a record of it?

I know you've already mentioned that they don't care about the previous TNs but ... the letter I am writing is just very similar to the other one and I am worried.

Thanks

You are the same person, doing the same job. How different do you think the letter should be?
