I am new to the forum ...I have been reading the posts for several days and have received very helpful information. Wish I found those cover letters earlier :)

I am married to USC and currently on H1B. We finally mailed our completed package ( I-485,I-693, I-864I-130, 1-765, I-131). We had an attorney review our application and add a cover letter and G28. (not sure it was worth it... I still found mistakes after the attorney had reviewed) I am anxiously awaiting to receive NOA. If my H1B expires prior to receiving EAD am I allowed to continuing working with my employer? It doesn't expire until January 2007 so I am hoping I am good to go. I will keep all informed about timelines I receive information.
 
If your H1B expires before you get your EAD, then you are not eligible to work until you get the EAD. Why don't you try to renew your H1B if that happens? In any case, since you have so much time before the H1B visa expires, you should be able to get the EAD before that unless there are many RFEs.

My friend was on H1b and filed similar package after marrying USC and she also applied for EAD while on H1b - I guess in case it expired while awaiting green card. Her green card has already arrived.
 
yes they knew about the H1B she attached all copies to application. I am not sure if she received an EAD. I know she received green card quite fast. I will find out if she actually received an EAD.

Applying for EAD will not affect the H1-B status in any way. Using EAD for employment will result in the invalidation of the H1-B status. The answer to your questions is yes.

With the way things are getting very fast with USCIS I believe that you should get your GC before Jan 07.
