the officer was very polite and responsive and the gist of the conversation is

i asked her is she can tell me if my name check has been cleared. she said they have been told not to answer any questions regarding the name check issues, and to check back in september

she also told me not to worry because they arr right now processing cases from september 06 and things look goos so far on my case whatever that means

pretty standard answers i guess

meanwhile my canadian immigration approval letter came in the mail last week

took less than a year, no lawyer, no RFE no Backlogs..

atleast there is a backup plan in place

greynicolls, I know this process is really frustrating but don't let it overtake your life. I feel frustrated from time to time ... especially when I see jobs that I am eligible for but can not apply.

Any specific threads you can recommend for 485? Maybe I should start a 485 thread for those who got out of BEC's

cant recommend n e specific thread, i generally come to http://boards.immigrationportal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=97
this general area and go from here.

One common thread for all 485 issues is a good idea. Hopefully other ppl will participate.

G'day old timers ... unlike the BEC forums there is no single thread for I-485. Moreover the threads are divided with the specific issues. I generally look at the I485 main page, Frequently Asked Questions, General Issues, NSC and TSC.
