Disagree - most american iPhones are incompatible with T-Mobile so telling her to get a T-Mobile prepaid sim would be bad advice.

She purchased unlocked iphone in the US to use it in EU. If it's iphone 5 with the model number A1428 it will work fine on Tmobile. And a lot of 5s and 5c sold sim free in the US are OK on T-mobile. Just need to check which 5c or 5s model she has. Takes 5 seconds to do that. Not a rocket science.
If it's 4s or below then it won't work.
