Finally 10 Year wait is over ....
Heard from the AVM just now that my I-485 has been approved on June 4th, 2001. Been in this country from 1991 and after completing MS had to wait this long for the much awaited so called GC.

Case Assigned to Officer, NSC RD: June 2000
LEOJUN00 - 04:19pm Jun 8, 2001 EST
Just talked to an IIO at NSC. She told me my case
has been assigned to an officer.
She was very picky and doesn\'t tell me when it was assigned
or how long it takes to approve
My wife\'s EAD expires on 6/23 and she doesn\'t give any info
about her case and told me she will only talk to my wife about that.

Folks,
I just heard that my case has been approved, per AVM. I might be the unfortunate holder of the oldest PD in NSC, with one problem after the other with my case, but at least it is over now. The celebrations will have to wait until I have a stamped passport in my hand because I just refuse to believe that I crossed 485 smoothly ... without any screw-ups either from my lawyers or from INS. Some other useful details on my case are:
PD - 12/95
Category - EB2
Country - India
I-140 rejected due to BS+5, and filed I-485 under USABAL litigation (just 2 weeks before my 6 years expired)
I-485 RD & ND - 6/00, LIN-00-193-XXXXX
AD - 6/11/01
Just like so many others, I have spent a good deal of my time lurking on these boards and others, and I want to thank everyone for their useful contributions and the much-needed support during this ordeal (can\'t believe I am actually typing all this instead of just reading this stuff in some other post ...).
Myladoor and others (Ciba & all) - I know lot many guys have expressed their gratitude via these boards but believe me there are tons and tons of lurkers like me who thank you silently in their hearts for your magnanimous efforts. Keep up the good work. Myladoor, I will let you know my handle on immitracker for updating my entry.
I will be checking these boards for some more time (old habits die hard) to respond to any queries.

I take my words back. The case has not been assigned as of taday!! ha! Ha!
I am not being impatient, however, last week I was told that the file was already assigned to an officer. Today the version has changed: It is going to be assigned to an officer within a month\'s time. IIO did not look confident at all. It felt like she didn\'t even know how to read information from the computer. The darn AVM says 370-400 days. I guess we all are in the same boat. I pray for everyone to go through this phase patiently.
If there are any good news/surprises coming your way, please share them.

Spoke to IIO today. IIO was extremely polite. Said case has been assigned to officer. Also added that they are currently processing cases from the week of my ND. Added that I should hear something in around a months\' time. He however refused info\' about spouse unless spouse was beside me but added that the cases are almost always processed together.
Looks like this officer gave me accurate info\' \'cos according to him they are processing June first week cases and we are seeing a lot of June approvals.
