July 08 Visa Bulletin and Interview

Dear all,

My PD (EB3) has been current for a few month now (10/2003). I have received the initial packet to schedule the interview but I'm still waiting for the consulate in Paris (French citizen) to send me the Packet 4 with the interview date.

I contacted the consulate last month to get an estimate of the interview month and at that time they told me that it would be scheduled in July.

However, according to the last visa bulletin, my category is unavailable. Does that mean that I should not expect to get my appointment until October 08?

From what I read once the NVC sends your papers to the US Embassy in your country you already alloted a visa. So I strongly believe your safe.. Good Luck.
 
Yes. Embassy will not call you for an interview.

You are extremely unlikely to be scheduled before October 08. My papers were sent to a Consulate when the category was current and the very next month it retrogressed. My papers were in the Consulate for over 2 years! In your case, the wait is just 3 more months, so dont get unduly worried, you will be fine. Collect all the tons of papers needed! PCC, Birth Cert, Marriage Cert, Notarized Employment offer,......

Time of interview by the Consulate differs from country to country. I think US Consulate in France does not have the same load as countries like India, China, Mexico etc. therefore you maybe lucky to get the interview soon. Good luck...
 
Thanks for all your responses. Is there usually any hope that some visa numbers may be freed up in August or will I have to wait until October at that point?
 
FYI. I ended up not having an interview in July but it got scheduled for November 25 2008.
