Before going to INS
2)Write your name and A # on the back of each 2 photos using PENCIL (the photos are same as ones used for filing 485)
The courtsey copy says so. So do it.
3)Even if you have specs, take photos with NO specs.
Some tips for staming at SFO:
1)Have ur Courtsey copies handy and Driver id handy before you enter the INS building
2) Room 200B is not a separate room as we had imagined.
It is a room withing a much bigger room with a lot of chairs around.
So once you get off from lift on second floor, turn right and AGAIN TURN RIGHT and go to the end.
You will see the room at the left hand side at the end.
The drop box is on the door itself for room 200B. I kept looking for it!
Drop ONLY courtsey copies in the drop box. Someone dropped PPT there as well and there was chaos
as they could not find his PPT , but eventually they did.
3) After you drop it, you wait for about half and hour and they will call your name from counter 18.
4)Check to see if you have I-94, photos(2 copies), PPT , EAD (All of them), AP ready. keep these
things handy because they are in big hurry and if you keep looking for docs at the counter, they might get irritated
and may misplace stuff. They ask things separately , so you cam keep things separately for urself and spouse as
two complete sets in one file, and hand them one by one.
5) They will collect the docs and on counter 19, they will take your signatue(twice) and fingerprint(only index finger)
twice. keep your hand really loose. The guy over there did not like it since I kept it stiff. But I did not know that
it has to be held loose and they simply shout \'hey why are u holding stiff" , well I do not know how to hold it..i said so in my mind only
Once this is done, they will ask you to take sit again.
6) After a while (about 45 minutes), they called us, but they were handing us different passport!!!!!!!!!
SO MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING YOUR PPT ONLY WITH CORRECT I-551 stamp
The stamp has your A# (check if correct ) and validity date (one year from day of staming-- check if correct )
While handing PPT, they said it will take 8 MONTHS to receive cards.
