joint or married separately tax file?

hello guys,
i need your guys' suggestion. we got married in dec 30th ,05. Now its time for filing taxes. i worked last year even after my workpermit expired(OPT). so what would be better for me , me and my wife joint tax file or married but separate? whats the difference? if i file joint then it would appear in my wife(sponsor's) w2 when i send it for AOS initial process. i know i am not gonna lie that i worked, i ll put all info truthfully...i am not sure how to file taxes ??any ideas or experience you follks have on this one???will really appreciate it as always ...thanks

could anyone tell me if its gonna be a problem if i file joint tax return with my wife for last year.i married 30th dec,,05. i havent filed for AOS yet, i worked for many months even after my OPT was expired. would that be a problem? to send them W2 for sponsor (my wife) , and there will be mine too...please sugges!! i am not gonna lie that i didnt work, i ll tell them i did. but i am just concerned since her we have to send her W2 as a sponsor for initial AOS process..i ll really really appreciate it

In my opinion it's better to file joint tax return, even though if you worked beyond expiration of your permit. First for the purpose of the AOS (it's recommended as a docuent showing both of your ames and common address). Second if her income is not enough to sponsor you, your combined income should be.
And third since you are not going to lie about working beyond OPT, just go dor the joint tax return. After all, if you file separately you'll show the same income that you've earned.
