JOINING NEW EMPLOYER ON H1B Trnsfr rcpt notice

I am on an H1B. I resigned from my previous employer (after I got my H1B Transfer receipt notice I797B) and joined the new employer next day.

While filling up the new hire documents I am stuck at I9 form where I797 is not available as a proof of employment eligibility. It has one option of using I-94, but my current I94 will be expiring very soon (from previous employer) and I believe the new I-94 will come only after the Transfer is approved.

Please help regarding if I can use the old form itself, or how did other folks managed it. Any pointers I can show to my current employer. It's extremely important as this info. is required for payroll.

Use receipt number for employment authorization alogn with SS card. Your HR should be aware of this practice.
