I was laid off a month after i entered US from consular processing. I had got my plastic card within that month. My ex-company gave me a letter that they have to reduce the staff due to economic downturn and my HR dept. asked me to file for unemployment benefit provided by the state. I did so and am receiving my checks. Does obtaining unemployment benefits in anyway hinder my future citizenship application? If so, to what extent and is there a way that an attorney can help me out with this at that time???

Thank you

You are fine

As a PR you are entitled to the benefit you are receiving. It will not adversely affect your future citizenship application.
