My job title was software engineer in the application. I was laid off months ago and am still unemployed. There is a possible job as software test eng. How safe would it be to take it? I am afraid of getting caught (by RFE) unemployed. My 485 ND is Jan 02.
 
Hey bekleha, I say since you are not doing anything else .. take it.

When you get EVL, talk to your employers and tell them that INS is picky about job description etc. If it's closeby, you should be ok.

It should be okay. I had a title Senior Software Engineer and now Staff Software Engineer. What she said is that we would send RFE saying "Staff Software Engineer (Senior Software Engineer)" in order to prevent free interpretation. What they really would look for is the job description so you should try to make it as close as possible to the LC one.
 
I am laid of by my present employer after 180 days of filing 485. I have alreday got the EAD. I am expecting a short project for two months. Is it OK to work on this project as an independent contractor? If so, I really appreciate if anyvody can tell the pros and cons.
