Friends I am in a dilemma and thought I would pose this question to you all. My RD is October. My client wants me to come on board as an employee. The role is that of a people manager for developers. The job profile requires technical expertise and experience but I won't be doing hands on programming.

When my GC was filed it was for a developer (programmer). Do you think this fits in the "same or similar" category ? What do you guys think ? It is not everyday that you get such an opportunity in today's economy.

It's the same, now you would be a programming manager and resource coordinator. If your new employer can word in a little subtle way ie. without making it sound absolutely functional , you definitely fit the role in your LC.

Go for it..
 
I think, each company will have different titles. They don't care about title much. I think, they look into salary, if title doesn't match.
