Good morning everyone,
I am a Canadian who's currently working in US under TN/I-94 that expires in about three months' time. I was planning to renew my TN status once I go back to Canada this coming summer (as I have to renew my passport as well). However, recently I've been given a promotion - and my job title will change in coming days.
I was wondering if I have to apply for an entirely new TN for this. I am still with the same employer, same institution, same geographical location. My previous job was filed under category of 'Laboratory Assistant', and my new job, although having different name, will still be filed under category of 'Laboratory Assistant'. Thus, in terms of TN job 'title' it isn't really different.
I was wondering if I have to go back to Canada immediately to renew my TN status, or can wait to first renew passport through mail, followed by renew my TN towards end of August. There wasn't a similar case in my institution before and we're all in a dark. Any advice would be appreciated!
