JAXEN -will H4 extension be abandoned ?

Just want to know if one sends H4 extension to INS before expiry of current valid I-94 and valid H4 staus,will that extension of H4 will be abandoned if his H4 extension is pending and person goes out of US with valid h4 visa stamp in passport and returns with the existing H4 visa before expiry date,

Only change of non immigration Status is abandoned if one goes out of US while case pending

or
extension in same status also if one leaves US wihle his case is still pending with INS

The abandonment of Extension can be undone in the same visa case by
1. Either requesting to issue new I94 with old number(not recommended, since you are supposed to give the old I94 while going out of US)

2. Doing a I94 reset after H4 approval- visit nearest POE, INS office to do so.
