Jaxen - I-485 for Spouse - Joining with the Primary Applicant

Filed my I-485 on March 4 2002 as bacehlor. Got married last month. Going to file for my wife. What is the procedure to safely link her I485 with mine.
 
Complete the package

and on all pages (except the INS forms) write a footnote which says : derivative of A# (your number ) and 485 receipt Number.

Also write a letter with a paragraph clearly devoted to your request of joining your spouse's application alongwith yours.
