I traveled to India some time back and got married while in India.
my H1 ext was in process while I left for India and was approved while I was in India.I returned to US using AP since I cud not get Visa stamped.
Later I realised that my wife might have problem in Chennai consulate to get H4 without me having valid H1 stamp in PP.I did not want to take a chance, so I traveled to India for a short period and applied for H1/H4 and got both within 1 day in Chennai.
I traveled back to US immediately with my wife and presented H1/H4 at POE.No probs at all.
So it proves that U can get H1 stamped even after traveling using AP and get back to H status.

Thanks for the update.

Have a great married life. Glad to know that some preachings are indeed practiced by DOS/INS...
