Hey krishnakumar how long before thay cashed your check. They haven't cashed my check yet.

Cool. :confused: I always thought they take money first and then send the receipt.

Look like receipt should be in the mail pretty soon. :p

Ofcourse,

U need to apply I-130 and wait for approval before I-485 filing or file I-130 and I-485 concurrently.

If u don't know procedure then check what is required for Marriage based petition and check INS website or immihelp.com or other immigration website or hire a lawyer.

U need to apply both at local INS not Vermont center. Yes do it fast and apply before March15 and incase u can't apply before that then still ur wife will be eligible to apply I-485 since her husband is US citizen.

Check some basic immigration information at this website.

131.. what's the status?

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me how soon will i expect my travel documentation from VSC?

I have received the finger print notice. I want to know how soon can i get my travel documentation I-131? is there a number by which i can try to get more information on my application? I have applied in VSC.

I am confused here...without getting EAD and FP i got the schedule for FP...dont know how that happened? Will EAD comes after FP is approved or Shall I expect anytime soon?

Askabus wait for few weeks

Yo, Its the general routine to get FP notice first. Same thing happened with me and few friends in NJ who applied in VSC. You should get your Travel document if you applied for one (I-131), your EAD within few weeks. Maybe after your FP at Newark. Hope you dont have any criminal record !

Got I-131

hi all,
My situation as my previous message:

RD : 1/2/2003
PD: 1/2/2003
ND: 2/7/2003
I-131 ? for wife
EAD ? for wife

However, we went to INS in Newark, NJ yesterday morning and waiting for entire day got a multiple entry I-131 for the wife after paying a fee of $110. Now she can travel and come back into the country safely. DAMN VSC !

1)Have you applied 140/485/EAD/AP concurrently at VSC?

2)Can you got to local office in person to get I-131 approval even if you have application pending at VSC?

3)what documents you showed to get the I-131 approval from local office?

Your reply will be very helpful....I have notice date of 29,jan'03 for I-131 but not recieved the approval....and i have to go to india in the third week of april...what r the chances?

Yes you can apply in person

My wife and I had applied everything concurrently. Since she did not hear about the I131 from VSC, we had to go to local INS office and apply there directly. They ask for your passport, 2 pix, $110 in cash, your I-485 receipt letter. By the end of the day, you should get your AP. My wife is all set for her trip to India next week. Its an ordeal !

Do local INS ask anything about the current status?

I have passport stamped with H1B visa till july'04 but right now i dont have the job.....Can they say that i can travel on 485 reciept and on my H1B as it is not expired?

can you please advice something if you can?

It should be fine --- Bharat

At the local INS office, you can state that you have to go to India due to medical conditions. They will just ask for your passport and check the validity of your visa and I-485 receipt. Since you are applying for AP based on your husband or wife's petition, i think your status should be OK. Get the AP from the local office, now if you get single or multiple entries, thats your luck. But let me tell you if you go to Newark, its horrible. You would lose out an entire day. Hope this helps.
