I have checked my case# in the chennai website and i an interview date scheduled for Jan-22-2003.

I filed for I-824 in nov-2001 and it got approved. TSC took its own sweet time for forward papers which reached NVC by Oct-2002 and finally my papers were forwarded from NVC to Chennai consulate by NOV-25-2002.

Does the Chennai consulate send out e-mail confirmation?

My POE is going to be LAX. Even though i live in Dallas, Texas.

The documents we need to carry as far i know are:

1) Tax returns for last 3 years

2) Last 4 pay stubs

3) Employment Verification

4) Bank Letter stating your balances.

5) Copy of every document that was filed with INS/NVC (inlcuding forms DS-230( i am not sure about the number)

IN chennai ,
medical tests and records.

If i have missed something please let me know.

regards

Srirag,

* The fact that you can view your interview date by referring your case # is proof enough. The Consulate will not send you any email confirmation, unless you correspond with them.

* They will send you the Packet 4, with the interview appointment letter and the document for filling medical information ( this can be downloaded from the web site too)

The documents for interview: ( You will find the complete list on the forum ). But I will list the ones that I see as missing.

* DS 230 - Part I : One copy you would have filed with the NVC.
You have to carry another copy ( signed )
* DS 230 - Part II: Filled but UNSIGNED.

* Birth Certificate OR Non-availability certificate PLUS Affidavits from parents or close relatives.

* Police Cleareance Certificate(PCC): I really hope you have this in your pocession. If you are living in US, you need to apply at the nearest Consulate ( or Embassy ) and get this. This will take 35 to 40 days.

If you are married, and your wife is applying with you:

* Marriage Certificate.

* I 134- Affidavit of support for all members of your family applying with you ( Notorized )

* Marriage photos , invitation card.

* Her birth certificate , as above ( for all members.)

* PCC for your wife and any child 16 years or older.

* Passports validity should be atleast 8 months beyond your stamping date.

THIS LIST IS NOT COMPLETE!!! Check the forum for the complete list. I have not listed the items like Immigration style photos etc.

I am concerned that you have missed PCC in your list. If you do not have this ready, it could be a problem. Post a reply immediately we can further discuss this!!!

Good Luck!
Raju

Hi Raju,
Thanks for the information. I did get a police certificate last year around Nov.2001. Would that be enough.

PCC valid for a year

Srirag,

As posted on other thread also, I repeat:
PCC is valid for only a year from the day of its issue. I would highly recommend taking a new PCC. Since you were in US for last year, the Indian consulate should not take 45 days to issue a PCC. Call them before hand. Since you are in Dallas, may be you can drive down to Houston and request one in person, explaining the urgency to the Indian Embassy, Consulate officer.

I got my PCC within 4 working days because I had my passport re-issued at Indian Consulate at Houston, TX.

Good Luck & Thanks.

As cpdelhi suggested above, since your PCC is going to be more than a year old by the time you present it to Consulate. Get a fresh one from your consulate, immediately!

Collect the complete list of documents from the forum and check everything is in order. The Employment letter has to be notarized
( assuming that your's is employment based ).

Good luck!
