I have a question for EB friends on these forums. My wife and kids' applications were returned to attorney on July 5 and the attorney sent back all the three application sets with the missing documents to TSC the same day and I am hoping TSC received the packets on July 6, 2007.

Do you think they will be accepted and issued SRC numbers soon? The IO said I should wait till the end of the month to get receipt numbers.

Meanwhile, I received FP code 3 notice today (July 16) and the date for that is 08/03 and I am hoping my wife and kids' applications are accepted by then. Why would the USCIS want to send me for FP now and send my dependents later?

Further, what is so special about FP Code 3 compared to code 1 and code 2?

ImmExploited, a couple of days ago I saw the answer to your question on this forum but after much surfing could not locate the posting for you.
Basically, if I recall, the various " Codes " represent a combination of fingerprinting and photographs, all ten prints, or just index finger print. A number of combinations.
To answer your question, If I recall correctly, Code 3 was all ten fingers printed and photographs.
