J2 related question

Hi,

I am on a J1 visa and my visa expired in june 08, but i have my legal status maintained by renewing DS 2019. I have my son in my home country and i would like him to visit me. So when i apply for a J2 visa, would it be denied just because my J1 visa has expired on my passport?

Any input would be appreciated.

No. Visa is needed to enter only. Your son needs a 2019 for dependents issued by your sponsor and then he can get his own stamp.
