J2 EAD pending....travel required

Hello,

I am on J2 and have applied for my EAD (work authorization). The application is pending and its not yet 90 days. I need to travel to Canada to meet some relatives. Is travel outside US allowed with a pending EAD application?

Urgent. Can someone answer this please?
