Hello everyone,

I recently got a J1 waiver from USCIS after a 2 month wait period. Great news and everything went smooth. Thanks to all of you for your advice and great help. I really appreciate it. I have a hectic schedule so have not been able to post the time line but will do so soon.

I also have a quick question. I am working in hospitality so is it possible to
extend my J1 visa? or is it lifetime total of 18 months?

For anyone looking for help or advices, this forum is highly recommended.

How to start the process

Hi, I am on J1 Visa working as a science teacher phoenix. I have some questions.

1. What is the starting process for the J1 waiver visa.
2. Do I need the sponsership from school.?
3. What are the documents needed for the J1 visa.
4. I was working as a teacher in INDIA in a govt. school. DO I need the waiver certificate from INDIA.

I will appreciate if some one can guide how to get the J1 waiver.

Congratulations!!!
I have about six months left on my J-1 visa, starting the process now... is this ok to send passport and other papers via mail to indian embassy and how long does it take for them to return it to me?
