J1 waiver due to ext. circumstances

I just found out that I might naot have a job in a month.

Few questions...

1) Should I tell my State's j1 co-ordinator right away. Or should I look for job first.

2) Can you transfer to a non-HPSA location if my current waiver is non-HPSA.?

I know I can transfer to HPSA but not sure if I can transfer to non-HPSA. Logic says, if my new non-HPSA has similar criteria as my present one, I should be able to move. One lawyer told me that it has to be HPSA.

Could you please share your experiences..... please list which order should one proceed, i.e. find job, advise J1 waiver co-ordinator, State medical license, USCIS etc...

Thanks,

I feel there is no harm in notifying the J1 coordinator now since many times they are aware of potential job openings in HPSA locations. Of course that is in most states, some southern states appear to have their own conrad state 30 rules! If the J1 coordinator/State Dept of health are sadistic a#@ Ho@#$ then you may be better off on your own. Depends on your previous experience with them, when you initially took this job. Sometimes they can be extremely helpful.
What specialty are you in? That may make a difference in HPSA vs Non HPSA with recent conrad state 30 changes. The safer bet is a HPSA location in my opinion.
Best of luck.

I was in your situation(even worst)about 6 years back send me message and can share with you my experience.
start looking for a job in HPSA/MUA preferably in the same state and inform state the moment you lose ur job.
