J1 waiver and extension

This forum is very very useful to many. I am in J1 since 2013 Sept. I got all letters from India and applied for waiver (after got final NORI from Indian Embassy, Washington) and finally waiver got approved from USCIS. My current J1 is valid till Aug 2015. My employer (university) will support me for another two years after my current J1 expires. I want to keep J1 instead of H1 visa, because my wife (J2) can work and she current holds job. Can J1 be extended or need to change other visa types? Please advice me on this issue. Thank you very much.

J-1 extension is usually handled by the university. The responsible officer in the university will renew your DS-2019 easily. Once your get your new DS 2019, you can remain your current status, as well as your wife.
J-1 extension must be completed before the expiration date of your current DS-2019.
