My boyfriend and I are both J1 visa-holders, with 2 year rule of home residency. However, he has already completed his studies and now on practical training, he has to come back to his country, while I have one more year of studying in the USA. We want to get married and I am wondering - could he then apply for J2 visa as my dependent when he comes back home or is it possible to switch from J1to J2 right in the USA? Thanks!
