Can I swith from J1 to H1B while my I-485 (EB-1) is pending? My J1 expires in about 1 year; I'm not subject to 2 years rule. Should I just apply for EAD instead? Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.
In your case H1 or EAD doesn't matter. However H1 is under company control, EAD is under your control. Per AC21 (assuming you are still the eye doctor) you are allowed to switch employers. You can start your own clinic using EAD!!
