J1 for Research Scholars / Physicians

Does the 2 yr residency clause apply to Physicians who come as research scholars. I read the J1 regulations which states that this does not apply to this category. Any one on this category please throw some light

hi.I'm in the same condition .I have a research J1 visa which writes that I;m subject to 2 years rule.I want to learn if it's possible to change to H1 without waiver in order to start residency here.
Any help will be really appreciated.
