J1 Academic Training to H1-B

Hi there,
I am in a pretty unique situation. I am presently working with a company in Virginia, USA on J1 Academic Training. My Academic Training is getting over on August 31st. I have got my H1-B done thru the same company effective 1st October. Now there is a period of one month between 31st August and 1st October where I go out of status. I have contacted couple of attorneys and they say that during that period of one month I would be perfectly legal to stay in this country, however I can not work since my academic Trainig gets over on 31st Aug. My first question is - is this informaion right ? If yes my second question is - is there possibly any work around to continue working with the same company for that period of one month ?

The possibility of getting my H1-B transferred over to the 20,000 quota is ruled out since i have my masters degree from Australia.

My last alternative would be to inform the company about these complexities and request them for one month vacation !

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out ! Thank you in advance

I am pretty much in the same situation... (although I have two months in between the visa changes).

since you usually have 30 days to leave the country when you visa expires and usually 30 days in advance to enter the country before a visa starts, I would say, you would be fine staying in the US for the month.
