Got RFE

Got RFE for my Birth Certificate though I got my Naturalization Certificate with my Affidavit for Birth and also for my most recent years Income tax return( I did not submitted my return for last year yet)- I am afraid- i hv got 87 days from 25th June to submit those.

06/23/2010 - package delivered
06/28/2010 - USCIS Acceptance Confirmation (emails + text)
06/29/2010 - Check cashed
06/30/2010 - Case appears online
07/01/2010 - Received NOA1 I-130,I-485,I-765,I-131
07/12/2010 - Received NOA2 (Biometrics Appointment Notice) for 8/2/2010
07/15/2010 - USCIS Touched I-130,I-765,I-131
 
My Case

When I received the letter, for my biometrics appointment, I went to the address given in the letter about 8 days earlier than the set date; they let me do it (alexandria office). I can see on USCIS website that they need me to show them an initial evidence (Request for Initial Evidence), but doesn't tell me what evidence. Called them, and got the same message on the phone, even from talking to one of their agents. They told me to wait about 2 weeks to receive the mail and learn what evidence to show them. If not received by then, I will have to call them and ask them to send that letter again. The case is on hold till I send that document - as I'm told. So I don't know how it affects the process.

Day 0: June 21, 2010 – Mailed forms I-130, I-485, I-765
Day 5: June 25, 2010 – USCIS Receipts in mail
Day 15: July 10, 2010 – Biometrics scheduled for July 28, 2010.
Day 18 : July 13, 2010 – online message, notifying about RFE (not received the mail yet to know what initial evidence they require)
Day 25: July 20, 2010 – Walked in USCIS center for biometrics; did it earlier than scheduled.
 
Hello!! I applied for GC based on my US husband. I live in NJ, and the Center is Nebraska.
I am stil waiting for the fingerprint appointment. It is been more than 6 weeks. I called to USCIS and they told me to wait and call them back if I don't get the appointment notice in 45 days.
I don't think this is normal. It is taking too long comparing with other cases I checked.
Is there anyone in the same situation? Please, feedback.

This is the first time that I hear someone did fingerprint before USCIS scheduled. Did just walk in with your fingerprint letter? Thanks.

Yes, Bitacora! And I learnt about it reading someone else's experience on this website. So I did it. You need to have the appointment letter for your biometrics with you when you walk in there - as I read before on the site. I didn't have to wait but they say it depends on the center you go - how busy it is and how many people work there. I did it in 10 minutes!

Just suggested to two other people here to go for their biometrics earlier than scheduled - in case you're an impatient person like me ;) If you do, have your appointemnt letter with you.

Im gonna give it a go this week because I actually have a friends marriage to drive to in Kansas (from California) and can extend the trip a little if I dont have to be back by the 5th. Ill keep you guys updated how it goes. :-)
 
Update

Just an update on my case; one day after my biometrics, they have touched my I-485 and I-765. I went ahead and gave them a call, asking them to send me again the letter for RFE.

Day 0 - 21-Jun-10 - Mailed forms I-130, I-485, I, 765
Day 5 - 25-Jun-10 - USCIS Receipts in mail
Day 15 - 10-Jul-10 - Receipt biometrics appointment for July 28, 2010
Day 18 - 13-Jul-10 - Online message, notifying about RFE (no mail yet about the initial evidence req'd)
Day 25 - 20-Jul-10 - Walked in USCIS center for biometrics; Done earlier than scheduled
Day 26 - 21-Jul-10 - Soft touch on I-485 and I-765

Just don't worry about the delay; I have seen people complaining when referring to Nebraska. You will push your case ahead when you go to the fingerprinting center weeks before your appointment; just get the letter ;)
 
Sucessfully walked in today and got my biometrics done. Got there and there was a lot of people. The lady said oh today isn't your appointment and I said that I wasn't gonna be able to make it on my appointment date, she said come back at 3pm (it was 11am) because theres no wait at that time. Came back at 2:30 and by 2:35 was out the door Biometrics done.

Great, jcrmlaredo....happy to hear that! Also, thanks for mentioning the center (Riverside). office by office is different, and people here may arrange differently when they know.

Received interview letter today. So excited! Is it possible they will skip the EAD since my interview is in a month?

Hi Bitacora,

If you sign up on uscis website with your case numbers, you should be able to see soft touch after your FP. That's it. You don't get a letter to confirm that. You may only get letters for more documents/evidence, or hopefully your EAD card and interview letter after this.
