Dear All, I am stuk here, please help.
I am a resident physician on J-1 and is moving to a fellowship for next 2 years on J-1. About 2 months ago I got approval for Canadian Immigration. Now I have to go to Canada to get the PR card and will have to apply to US consulate at Toronto or Ottawa to get J-1 stamped on my passport inorder to come back. Can this be a sticky situation. Are there chnaces that they will refuse (even though I will have Canadian PR card) and send me to my home country? Is there any other way out, as I have to be there with in 6 months otherwise my approval will be cancelled. :(

You really do not have to have your J visa restamped as long as you have a I-94 stamped as D/S and you are in good standing with ECFMG and your travel in the border states is for less than 30 days. Of course if you apply for J visa stamp and get refused than you need to go back to your home country.

Thanks but

I never have my J-1 visa stamped on the passport. I did the change os status while staying here and never travelled outside during the last 4 years.
So now can U please tell me about some options.
Thanks

The situation gets sticky now, try for visa from canada with strong letter of support from your program director and a letter of good standing from ECFMG, good luck!
