J-1 Visa and AoS for DV cases

So if you don't get your J1 because you have indicated immigrant intent, what are you going to do?

Have you even asked them if they can hold off the offer for a month? I know that if I were employing somebody I would feel much more comfortable if they were a permanent resident than on a temporary visa and I would be happy to wait another month. And an employer that wouldn't wait a month for something as important as this may not be someone you actually want to work for to be honest... as you clearly will be in some form of educated job, not desperate on minimum wage.
And if I had left my home country for a job I would also be happier being on a permanent resident basis than a non-immigrant visa, because anything can happen with jobs.

But if you honestly feel your job is more important, I guess you can go for your J1 interview, tell them you do not want to pursue a green card anymore and that they can cancel your DS260, and hope like hell that will be enough for them to give you a non-immigrant visa.

Personally I think you are being incredibly short sighted... but that's just my opinion.

my job is more important than the DV

A temporary job opportunity (which will likely subject you to a 2 year home stay upon completion) is more important to you than the opportunity of working and living permanently in the US? I think you'll have a tough time convincing whoever will be interviewing you for a NIV about that - of course I could be wrong, but that's what I think.

Well, if you're certain about that, you should start by emailing KCC and letting them know of your desire to no longer pursue your DV selection. After that you can initiate your J visa application. You'll need to present the email you're sending to KCC (and the response from KCC) at the time of your J visa interview to convince the IO you've withdrawn your immigrant visa petition and that you're no longer interested in living permanently in the US. You'll also need to present evidence of a strong commitment/ties to your home country of course in order for them to approve the J visa.

Just to add one more thing. If this job opportunity is so amazing, it's sad that it will knowingly be short lived because you are going on a temporary visa. If you go on a green card, you can stay as long as you want or be able to easily take up other great opportunities too... Although if you say the job is more important then I guess your long term plan is to have a fantastic job for 2 years then go back to Nepal (I presume, from your name) for ever after that.

Dear all thanks a lot for the suggestions, I really appreciate it and again I changed my mind as I was able to convince my employer about my situation. When would you all hope I can have my interview AS5950

I'm very pleased to hear that!
I don't do interview timing predictions, but good luck for the process. You will be in a very fortunate position of having a job waiting as soon as you are ready to go!

Wise decision IMHO.

Regarding the interview, we already covered this in previous discussions. Hard to say since Nepal is currently limited/held back. You should hopefully have a better idea when the next VB comes out in the next couple of days.
