J-1 Persecution Waiver

Is there anyone that applied for a persecution waiver for 212(e) and got rejection/approval? Did you apply with or without a lawyer? I am not able to afford a lawyer without taking out loans, but I really fear returning.

If you have any experience at all, please share. I am also former Fulbright.

Is there an update on your status? My fiance and I filed a waiver with a no objection statement but were denied. We did not have a lawyer but we had friends with more dire circumstances and they had a lawyer and they still got denied.

Hi all, do you guys know if applying for the waiver before your program is completed would affect your program in terms of funding such as Fulbright funding? In other words how early do you have to start the application process before your DS 2019 is expired?

Usually it takes 3 to 5 months to get the Waiver.
