Not sure if this is a good or bad thing.
This is my first time renewing my EAD.
I sent my application to Vermont at the end of January.
Beginning of Feburary, got notice, that it was transferred to NYC.
Feb. 15th, EAD expired.
Last week, got letter saying to come in saying ->
"For processing employment authorization document"

I didn't know that we have to go in to a DO, for ead processing.
Im not sure, because, I'm waiting on the GC, and I got cleared.

In a way, I hope it because I got approved for the GC (and its coming soon),
but I'll settle for getting a new EAD on the spot (if thats possible).

But has anyone gone through a similar scenario as this?
Thanks

This is normal procedure for getting EAD when case is in local office.
We also filed to VSC, then it was transferred to local office (Baltimore), then Balt sent us invitation to show up, we went, they took picture and we got EAD same day.
Note that if your EAD expired you cannot work until you get renewed EAD. Maybe until the start date of renewed EAD, I am not sure.

Well hopefully, I would get the EAD the same day.
And that I can start working asap.
Hope the GC comes in soon though...

I have very similar situation. My file transferred from VSC to NYC in 2004 and right after the transfer i had my interview. While i was waiting for GC i received

Well, I just got back from Federal Plaza.
I was in an out in under an hour (my fastest time, when actually going to an office).
I left with my renewed EAD in my hand.
I'm a happy camper now, as I can work again...

Thanks all...

is this a new rule they've got now for new yorkers? interviews for EADs and APs?

i never knew USCIS required an interview for an EAD or an AP application, but my husband has just been sent a letter saying that his AP has been processed (..by the CSC, where his I-485 was pending) and transferred to the NYC office so that they can conduct an interview. (and the letter said it could take several months for NYC to schedule the interivew!)

We've been waiting for the AP for more than 5 months now!

ARGH!
