Assuming an ITN was used on tax forms during the previous years and an SSN is obtained now for that person, do we need to do something special to notify the IRS?
I think that the only thing you need to do is to write down
your SSN on your next tax return and then write a note that
your previous ITN is whatever number it is.
I have been filing my taxes electronically and once the system rejected my return because of some information mismatch for one of the SSN. I will keep you posted if I run into issues. I will try to file in the next month and half.
Not over yet. Maybe you need to also inform your change from ITIN
(or state tax id) to SSN to the state revenue department if you
also paid state taxes last year.
PS: I think there is a great chance that I will be
fired soon for being on the internet too much during
work
