ITIN: immigrants owning land

Fight The Chaos

I understand that illegal immigrants who have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number who buy land and can request reduced tax.

An illegal immigrant who is told to temporarily leave the U.S. in order to comply with the requirements of becoming a permanent resident must still leave even though they own property in the U.S?

I fail to see how one is told to leave even though one can own land. I understand that the state of Texas can take possession of the land.

I hope someone can shed some light on this issue. I believe i can stay in the U.S. with property that i own in the state of Texas. Is this false or true, thanks.

Actually, there is ONE situation where owning property in the US is beneficial:

And that is during removal proceedings. Owning property, having US citizen children and a clean criminal record are some of the factors the judge can take into account when he decides whether a defendant is eligible for cancellation of removal and adjustment.

But no, the US tax-man doesn't give you a discount for breaking the law by living here illegally (certain non-immigrants are exempted from FICA for the first year or so, but that is a different story).

No, I am planning to become legalized through other means, not by property, which is absurd. I was simply trying to stay in the U.S. by claiming that I own land. I have already been consulted:

One MUST leave the United States for X amount of time to their homeland as a part of the requirement in becoming a permanent resident status from an illegal immigrant status.
