I have an oath in San Antonio, TX yesterday. I am now US citizen. The whole process takes just 3 month and 7 days.

Good luck everyone.

Congrats! But I have a question, 3 months including the name check! What does that mean? Why are they telling people they are working on 2002-2003 pending name checks, while they are processing 2005 applications in 3 months?

Again, Congratulations Jerryl, I am very happy for you. :)

ok for publicus and zero,
I would say that they are talking about the "PENDING" cases, not the normal cases.
For example, my name check was not -Thank God- pending, it was done in 3 weeks. In this case , i wouldn't be counted among the PENDING cases they are talking about. Does that make sense to you.

I hope that clarified some. :)

There is a member here by the name of Vulpasin. He has been waiting for 18 months after the interview, did not withdraw his application, but rather filed a new N-400 application when he moved to a new state. Read his messages.

Good luck.

Sony, what do you mean by "Pending". Does it mean they got a hit the first time around when they checked the name? This doesn't apply to my case since I got no record response from the FBI regarding a FOIA.
Don't they perform name checks on a First Come First Serve basis?

yes, i am saying Pending means people with hits. I don't think first come first serve basis apply to cases like that. Normal people go along the line, and people who get stuck in pending cases go out of order, and enter a new order, the line of pending cases!
That's when the case takes a long long time. Of course your case won't be like that for two reasons as i see it :

first, you have an expedited request from the USCIS , if they told the truth!

second, your first name check went through just fine, so i think the second time it will too.

..

Thank your guys greeting.

Indeed, my application is only taking 3 month and 7 days. I filed on Sep 8, and get the certificate on Dec 15.

However, my wife's case is still pending. We filed together and interviewed by the same friendly INS officer. But she told my wife at the end of the interview - I am sorry your name-check is not completed. Sorry for not having the oath ceremony as your husband". She also said the name check is conducted by other gov agencies. She can't predict the date to completion. She also said this is because my wife's name is common, that is the reason for taking longer. I think my name is common too, but I haven't never been abroad since my first time entering this country. We are both Chinese.

Good luck everyone.

JoeF - how is your fingerprint? You didn't update your profile :)

Jerryl, usually they give men a hard time and not women. In your case, maybe they thought your wife was the man. :D
