WAC-106
Transf. to local office (end of May 04)
Interview : 7/13/04
Every thing went fine, all paper work perfect. Background check pending...
"I cannot approve you till it is complete", officer told.
Wait Continues.....

Are you wac02-106?
Which office was that?
Did she say that the only reason for you not being approved is background check?

Yes, I am wac02-106.
Second FP Done in Jan 04. Online status never changed.
Transferred to Fresno on May 27.
Fresno has 6 month backlog but they called me early (Do not know why).
My case is straight forward: very solid employer, never changed employer, no issues with degrees etc....
Interviewer did not even focus on job.
She verified almost all the docs we had filed earlier. There were some issues with birth certificates but she accpeted affidvits (although she mentioned that affidavit is not correct as the person should know you by birth and this should be mentioned in the doc.)+school certificates with DOBs on it.
She collected I94s from myself and from my wife.
Overall interviewer was nice, she said she would stamp our passport now but because of checs we'll have to wait. She politely refused to give estimate time.

You should not worry about transfer. I beleive it is just a way to reduce backlog. Looking at the bright side, better to get transfer than sitting in shelf at service center. I noticed some other transferred case was called in earlier too (may be they are giving priority to transferred case).

My attorney's advice was to take a photocopy of all the docs so officer will not have to make it there.

If you want I can list all the docs she asked for.

Good luck!!!

Thanks jogi for the info. This helps me with preparing for my interview.
Could you please tell me this:

What was wrong with your birth certificates, if I may ask?
Your lawyer didn't go with you, if I understand correctly?
How long did you have to wait from when the website status said the case was transferred to receiving the actual appointment notice by mail?

Thanks

Hope this helps transferrees.....

You are welcome ruxrux.
Our Attroney (a wonderful person) accompanied us. I advice not to go by yourself if you can afford attorney(no matter how simple the case is).

Here is list of docs I was asked for:
- DL
- SSN Card
- All EADs (officer collected all old ones and returned the valid one)
- Passport with I-94
- Job Letter
- Daughter's Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate
- Birth Certf (See details below)
- 3 years tax returns (copies of 1040s)
- 3 paystubs
------------------
Other docs I took with me per attorney's advice but officer did not look at:
- 3 W2s
- Appt. Lease
- Phone bill
- PGE bill
- Degrees+Transcripts
- old I-20s
- Original H1
- Wedding photos
- Company's financial info
--------------------
Officer was nice and polite lady.
Questions:
- Verification of entries in our forms (name, ssn, dob, address, phone, jobtitle, company name)
- # of entries, exits, first and last entry date, reason for first entry
- Routines questions from the form (did you do this/that...)
-----------------------
Issue with BC:
I did not have my birth registered. I got affidavit from my neighbor (it stated he is our neighbor and he knows my parents personally and I was born ,,,).
Officer wanted addition in this text that he has been neigbor since .... and he knows it since that time). However, she did not insist on getting new one (it could cause lot of delay).
------------------------
Almost same questions from my wife.
It took about 30 to 45 mins.
If I recall any other thing, I'll add to this thread.

According to website, they are processing Jan 01, 2004 apps.
My case transferred on May 27, I was expecting interview in Dec. However, I was stunned last week when my attorney called me and told that interview has been sched. I did not get interview notice (only my attorney recd, another good reason to have attorney).
