i didn't get approved yesterday, as you predicted. Rather Congressman told that I should expect RFE.

Though I do not like the local congressman i contacted. The lady responsible for such caseworks always scares me for one thing or the other. and noe she told me abt RFE, which i am not too sure that i will really get.

The lady at my local congressman's office told me my case would not be touched for at least the next 5 months ! 1 week after that i got 2nd FP, 10 days after 2nd FP i got approved and yet yesterday i called her to thank her for her efforts ! So don't get your hopes down yet my friend !

You are right. I don't want to believe her too. In the past she had been telling me that there is a problem either with my case or my spouse's case. That's why it is takign longer. If I separate my case from my spouse it will help speed-up my case.

As far as i know that my case and my spouse case are straight-foreward, i never wanted to separate my case from my spouse. I always regret abt contacting this congressman, as she always talk scary.
 
Name Check ?

Me and my wife have attended to FP on March 4, 2004. Her Application status says "Received FP Results ... ", but mine shows as "Notice has been mailed ...."

I confirmed with FBI that the results have been cleared and sent to USCIS on March 6th.

Everyone in the forums says about Name Check. How can one finds whether one's case is pending for Name Check. And after how to make sure that has been done.

Also my 140 got approved on March 31, and I have original approval of notices (one courtesy copy to Company and the actual received my attorney, which are sent to me), but online message shows "Under Process ...".

I know it might be the wrong forum to put this question, but giving a try so that some one might respond.

Please advise.

FBI Name/background check # is 202-324-2399 Fax # 202-324-3367
FBI Finger print check status is 304-625-5590 / 304-625-2406

Thank you for the information. I have those numbers with me. But how to make sure whether a name check has been requested by USCIS. Because I heard that name check is not done always along with FP Review.

FBI will contact you with results else they will tell you they do not have a request for your name check.

First off congrats on your approval. In a different thread I noticed you had contacted Prakash Khatri's office for help. I was wondering if that triggered the FP2 and approval? We did our FP2 on May 13th and still waiting... I am still contemplating if I should contact Prakash Khatri's office. On July 1st I sent a fax to name check department. Anything that I can do to speed up the process. Appreciate your response,

Yes i did contact Mr. Khatri's office, I did not get any official response from him though. Also i had contacted my local congressman's office a bunch of times.

You will get informed but i have read about instances where it was pending being sent to USCIS and making the request triggered a "send" to USCIS.

I don't think pounding FBI for name check will do any good. Most of delay are at INS side. From information that I got, most of name check are done almost at the same time around the first FP. It is the INS delay that caused the 2FP, and further delay. We have no control of that at all. I have seen lots of suggestion about how to speed up the 485 cases. I personally believe there is nothing we can do, jsut wait. Maybe contacting congressman will help?? but I am concerned it will potentially cause some adverse impact also. So I am not going to go that route.

Did you left a message where they say they would get back to you within 48 hours? Did anyone had that message? Did they ever get back to anyone here by phone?

I did the FBI check for FP and they called back in 2 hours... pretty quick...
 
Got notice in mail today. Plan to go for stamping at Providence tommorow.
Does anyone have any experience @ Providence,RI ?

Completed Stamping today at Providence,RI office.
Walked in at 11:05 AM
1.Security check
2. Got token
3. Even as i was walking towards the seating area my number is called out !
4. Gave approval notice, Passport and I94 (Did not ask for EAD/AP)
5. Verified DOB
6. Lady at counter was interrupted (5 mins wasted)
7. Took passport and came back with stamped passport !
8. Asked and was told GC will take 1 yr (standard reply)
Walked out of office at 11:22 AM !

Now waiting for Plastic Card and wife's approval.
