Is VSC really rocking?

rocks for few people? sucks for many.....

title says it all. 'Bunch Of Jokers' will put out any show if people are there to believe it.

I hate to sound pessimistic but there are many, many cases with ND's prior to June 2003 which haven't been processed yet. Probably at least 50%.

Also the USCIS considers cases which have been transferred to local offices as "processed" (same as approved / denied as far as they are concerned) so while many cases are "off the books" for the VSC, they are now languishing at the local centers. I believe that over the last 6 months or so the VSC has started to transfer more and more cases (probably in an effort to make their backlog look better). See http://boards.immigration.com/showthread.php?p=950378#post950378 -- in some months, 50% or more of the cases have been transferred...

They do seem to be approving more cases than 6 months ago (although things seem to have slowed down a bit since October 1st) but many people might still have to wait for 1 year or longer even if their ND is < June 2003 (mainly if their case is transferred).

If we don't consider transferred cases, there are many I believe which have lost tracking between FP, Name check and their own internal IBIS name check. Unfortunately mine is one among them. I guess it happened when an RFE was issued on my I140.

At this point only way to make them synchronize their activity (Name check, IBIS name check and FP results) is to use power of influence (i.e Senator, congressman.) I am reluctant in going to them now itself (with my India trip coming up shortly...Nov 19th), I don't want to be approved on November 15th. Who knows 'jokers' can do anything.

For a change, now I am praying not be approved before 19th November.

folks, I agree that many cases prior to 06/03 are still pending but many
post 06/03 and even few 2004 cases have been approved. I wont call
those folks 'jokers' but i agree with fact that there is no way to figure
out how they work.

then check out Rajiv's thread 'class action'

If they are not 'jokers', then they are good accountants...'creative accounting' phenomenon which has led to display of official processing date as June 1, 2003.

I dont know if they are jokers or creative accountants, but they have been GODS for some people.
Call me crazy, i created a couple of portfolios with ND 6/30/03 last friday after i saw the update on processing time. In the last two days there have been 8 approvals and 15 transfers. About 45% of day's total cases have been approved or transferred. Being said that, looks like VSC is processing a lot of cases, but the question is "What is the Notice date they are processing?"

where exactly your case is struck like Name Check or IBIS name Check or some thing else.

My Name Check is pending with FBI since Oct 2003. Co-incidently "Raju" is the part of my first name and i have a wild guess like folks having raju as part of name has Name Check problems?.

my name check

There is no record of USCIS asking FBI for name check. So the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. How do we synchronize them? That is the bottom line 'GC Question'.

No synch no GC.

In my case 'Raju' is first name, so I also see another rajum user from March 2002 stuck in the process. Your theory is getting credible by minutes.

Another bottleneck in my case is that 'former Canadian resident' and current 'Australian citizen', this complicates biographic information more complex for security clearance.

Waiting for the day ........

can be done anytime post I485 RD.

It can be done anytime after I1485 is received. In some cases it may not happen until they are forced to from their superiors (people who fund them...ie congressmen and senators).

So how does one know if his/her case is in pending 'name check' status?
does it reflect online or something?

You do hit the point, just check the statistics of i485 on immigrationwatch.com, around 40% cases are transferred!
