Is visa needed for cruise to mexico?

I have a green card (finally). Do I need a mexican visa if I go on a cruise to Mexico? I was told that the mexican authorities dont even come into the picture, since the passports for non-citizens of the US are kept by the US immigration people at the port in US itself..

You do not require a visa for Mexico to go on a cruise. If you are not going to stay in Mexico overnight then you would be fine, no visa is required.
You need your passsport, driver license and copy of birth certificate.

You don\'t need a visa for Mexico or Canada - you don\'t even need the card. The passport stamp is good enough.
 
Just got back from a cruise

You do not need a mexican visa. At the time of boarding, they keep your GC and give another card, which along with your drivers license is good enough to go into mexico.
